Edinburgh is an ideal place to study. With six degree universities, six colleges and a student population of 75,000, it is a young, vibrant city and Scotland’s beautiful historic capital.
ELA student Carlos Guillerm Chulia from Spain loves studying in Edinburgh: ‘Edinburgh is a very unusual city. With a population of around half a million people it is the perfect size. It is big enough to have everything you could want in an international city but it is small enough that you can walk from the city centre to the coast in half an hour.’
Another advantage of studying in Edinburgh is the diversity of the student population. This encourages students to converse in English as there will be few students from their native country.
Edinburgh’s reputation as a centre of academic excellence is important for students both for studying and for social life. Carlos continues: ‘It’s full of students, it is an ideal place to study. It is also a friendly city; you’ll soon find your favourite place to meet friends, have a coffee, read a book or simply go for a walk, and If you want to, you can go out most nights of the week and meet students from all over the world.’
