The social programme attracts a small charge in addition to the course fees and includes visits to main sightseeing attractions, historical monuments and places of interest.

There are also two art house cinemas in the city centre, The Filmhouse and The Cameo. Morningside has one of the last cinemas in private ownership, The Dominion, which is very popular in the local area.
